Neurologist/epileptologists at Texas Childrens

Wed, 02/17/2016 - 20:09

Does anyone see neuro/epilepsy dr's at Texas Childrens and if so, would you recommend?  I've heard they are excellent but only via professional opinions.  We are looking for the ideal place for a second opinion.  My 5 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed with intractable subclinical seizures, only visible on EEG, mainly occurring in the right occipital. She was admitted to ICU under status epilepticus, and meds brought her down to NCSE.  They did not respond to 4 meds, except I suppose the meds keep them from being convulsive.  She's not a surgery candidate, and a pentobarbital coma was the only thing that broke the incessant seizures.  Even after, we had to immediately get her on the ketogenic diet.  She's been on it for three weeks, and although they're reduced, she's still having some (seen on EEG).  We were in ICU for a month, and a total of six weeks in the hospital.  She also has a complex medical history including hydrocephalus with a vp shunt.  We currently go to children's Hospital of MI, but are always looking for another set of eyes.  Would love to hear if anyone is familiar with TX Children's.  Thank you!

There are several locations here in Dallas and suburbs Google Childrens.com and google will bring up sites the first one will be Children's Health. They have a location section so type in the location of city you want. I live in Dallas. They have 4-5 different locations. One is across the street from my PCP at Baylor. The administration is off regal row but the hospitals are near it between Harry Hines and Stemmons fry, Another location is their hospital in Plano. Medical City has a whole building for their Children's hospital. All I can do is tell you the site to go they have numbers that can be used to get more information Nd several areas to look for the specialists needed.
