HORMONES & SEIZURES

Tue, 12/22/2015 - 10:14

iHello to everyone like me who has seizures. I seldom see any posts about hormones levels which I know (from experience) are important to help control seizures. My estrogen levels were always very high. This causes an increase in metabolic rate for both the brain and the body. Just  before a period I would always have the most seizures but  it was not known until recently that these were due to the increased hormone levels, mainly estrogen. An Endocrinoligist/Neurologist can now help with a variety of new drugs. My partial-onset seizures were never comepletely controlled but  my meds helped to lessen the severity of them. I am sixty (post menapause) so this wouldn't help me but I urge everyone to look into this for better seizure control.
