Omfi vs. Clonzapam, thoughts?
Wed, 09/16/2015 - 13:26My dr. wants me to switch from traditional Clonzapam to Omfi. I have JME and when I get repeated jerks or jerks that start to effect more than my hands i.e. legs, and speech I lay down and take a Clonzapam. It usually knocks me out for the entire day. I also stress out really easy if I can't sleep, making my ability to fall asleep even more difficult so I will take a Clonzapam if I can't sleep. This was working pretty well I was probably take Clonzapam on a bad week 3x and on a good week 0 and I only had jerks in the morning. I have now started having jerks in the afternoon too, so my dr. in reccommending Omfi
He say I should switch to Omfi because the effects of Clonzapam are not as strong any more. Which is true, I can take half of one and still be alert enough to send out emails from my bed for work after a couple hours.
However, I'm really questioning the Omfi. I have to take it everyday a couple times a day vs. Clonzapam which I take as needed. (That seems like a pretty good deal for big pharm to me.) He says it will have the effects of Clonzapam that I'm looking for like making the jerks go away, but I feel like he's disregarding my sleep issues that I also use Clonzapam for. I even asked him what will I take when I can't sleep and he said that the Omfi should help. Then when my husband asked if it was going to make me drowsy he said no. Does my dr. suck??? Because I'm just not seeing the benefits of going on a drug that I have to take everyday vs. a drug I just take once in awhile. While also disregarding my lack of sleep issue.
Onfi is correct I spelled it

Onfi is correct I spelled it wrong. Nothing is really working and I wouldn't say I should stick with anything, but of all the drugs I take Lamictal amd Zamisofide (spelling is horrible with meds) I would say that Clonzapam does what it is supposed to. You have a good point about about changing dr.'s. I guess maybe the true question I should be asking my dr. is why Onfi vs. one of the others that ISN'T working. Zamisofide seems like a completely pointless drug in my seizure control. I've changed from Keeppra to Topamax and now Zamisofide to stop jerks. None of those have worked. I think I'm getting down to the heart of why I'm so against Onfi - he's taking away one that works and leaving one that doesn't.
