Is this as good as it gets?
Wed, 03/04/2015 - 10:27I have been in chat for just 3 weeks and I continuously see people coming in saying " I can drive again in x months ". I am not here to preach but this is my experience. I was seizure free for 2 years and did give driving a try. Returning from shopping I blacked out while driving ( taggged the fender of the car in front of me/ drove across at last 30 yards of grass/ off an embankment, landed in a parking lot and then somehow got the damaged van home/ ) Every inch of this took place and I had no clue anything had happened. The charges against me: Hit & Run & Dangerous Driving. ............ This was my warning ( Do not try this again ) and I have never driven a vehicle since that date in 1994. I would like to have a choice in life but I just live with the fact that driving is NOT an option. Ask yourself " just how valuable is another persons life?" My answer is priceless and I will not allow my needs to ever put me in that position again. Eventually some of us have realized that driving is too dangerous especially while our memory and capabilities are impaired. It is not easy but all I can say is " Lets give other people a fair chance to live ".

Well said.I have never driven. I was studying for my drivers test an had a seizure after not having a seizure for 3 years. My life and others are more important then me driving. Like you said It isn't easy and it does take arranging stops but it can be done. I have had seizures for 50+ years....It is all the younger generation that seem to think that it is hindering them way too much. I feel like ai am losing my independence. They are still independent but they have to look at things from all angles rather then just their angle. I hope yo ustay seizure free or get that way. Joe
