Welcome So you want an

Welcome So you want an outside openion on these questions. Things have changes in the last 50+ years. In the 1960's some people with epilepsy were still being put in homes away from the site of the public. In the 1970's some states were not letting people with epilepsy get marriage licenses.  All of these questions can be answered by your neurologist. They are good questions and you need answers. As for birth defects that can happen to people who don't have epilepsy and yes they do. Your neurologist can tell yo uwhich medications you can use and which you should not use while yo uare pregnant.  As far as epilepsy running in the family. It is very rare but sometimes it does.  Do you have any other family members that have epilepsy?? If not then I wouldn't worry about it. As for answers to 5. That would be highly improbable   If you are going to your neurologist ask him these questions. If you are wanting or are planing to have a family he can make changes to your meds so you can be safer. Your neurologist is to take care of you which also means answering your questions. I am always asking mine questions and Doc knows it.  I hope this helps and please come back and let us know how things are going.. Joe
