multivitamin

Mon, 05/10/2010 - 21:47

When asked one neurologist if I could take a daily multivitamin, he responded "no" and went onto say that theres all sorts of stuff in them.  I inferred that he meant the "all sorts of stuff" could cause a seizure.

I asked my current neurologist if I could take a daily multivitamin and she said "yes".

Anyone else had any experience or have any knowledge regarding this?

My neuro wants to know about everything I take, before I take it, including anything herbal.   I don't take vitamins, only Omega 3-6-9.  As long as you're eating healthy, I really don't see any need.  Unless your doc is concerned that vitamins may be too enhanced and could interfer with your sleep or meds.  Sometimes I have better luck talking with my pharmacist about interactions.

peace R.C.

I can say this.   I have been in a drug study for some time now.

My original statements to them were I take a MV and it did not raise a concern OF ANY KIND.

I am still doing this and still reporting it . This info. has passed though the hands AND MINDS of a whole host of people ,including my neuro ,nurses, pharmacist's  and I have had a new drug added and with it new people at a different hospital and pharmacists to fill it and hopefully matching the med with the other med and what ever I have taken.

I have had a lot of bad reactions to meds and I am very nosy and well read before I take them  and although I have seen this system fail miserably, My trust has been pretty good in this many people . Rick

Jason,

Yes I do reccomend multivitamins, and high quality ones at that. There is a great variance in the quality of the MV product just like anything else. Also, the way the MV effects your body is of great importance. For example, I am healthy as a horse because I take my daily MV and eat fairly well.

My last blood test prooved that dilantin had been robbing my body of VITAMIN D and my doctor TOLD me to supplement on top of my daily vitamin for a certain time period.

Vitamins are very important, and  Omega 3's thru eating plenty of fish ;-)

I hope you start a comfortable relationship with a quality doctor. Where are you located?
