Changing from Topamax to Lamictal

I haven't tried any other drugs, but I've found Lamictal to be very mild with few side effects. It's doing a fine job of controlling my epilepsy.
Medications appear to be a journey moreso than a destination. It's a matter of what works for you, personally, and which side effects you prefer. It can be frustrating and worrisome to switch, but finding the right treatment can make a person a lot happier.

I was on Lamictal for a number of years but i am currently on a combination of Topamax and Lamictal. When i was on Lamictal by itself there were significantly fewer side effects to what i am experiencing now.

I hope your transition goes well. All I can tell you is that Topomax was one of the many drugs that did not work for my 4-year-old daugher -- and it had the worst side effects, turning her into a zombie. Lamictal reduced her seizures by 50 percent with far fewer side effects, and now she's doing even better on the ketogenic diet. Good luck.
