Hello to Everyone

Hi - I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself with some brief information. I started having partial complex seizures around the age of 13 (am now 39). I started treating with a new neurologist last year, at which time, it was determined that there was a cyst on my left temporal lobe. After all of the testing, I had the surgery in late February of this year, removing the cyst completely. It has been a long road of recovery up through this time, and I am still dealing with severe depression. But on the good side, no actual seizures since two (2) days before the surgery. Having problems with ringing in my ears, and now having more testing done. It appears that many of us have a lot in common, and I am so glad I found this site to have others to converse with who actually know the experience. I would greatly appreciate information from anyone else who has successfully recovered after the surgery, and I am willing to answer any questions that anyone else. Thanks for listening & Good Luck to All, Josie

Hello and welcome to the forums Josie, I also have the complex partial seizures. Well I did up until 3wks ago when I had my hippocampus / right temporal lobectomy surgery. I am doing super great. I haven't taken any medication for pain in 2wks and am sleeping through the night. I haven't even had any auras since the surgery either. I don't get really depressed, what I find is that I get very sentimental over stupid things. I can cry about anything. My neuro- surgeon told my husband that I would be like this for awhile because the right side of my head controls a person's emotions. I am lucky as far as depression because I have a super great husband and many wonderful friends that have been so very much supportive through all of my testing and the surgery and my downtime after the surgery. I see my neuro-surgeon on 11/15th and I plan on going back to work on 11/16th. My boss just wants to see a paper saying I have an ok to return to work. I can't stand looking at 4 walls all the time. I am sure things will get better. As far as the depression you should maybe talk to you neurologist about something to help ease it before it gets too bad, and harder to get under control. Well, sorry about rambling on. Hope some of this helps you out and again welcome to the forums. There is alot of helpfull things in here and very nice people. Good luck with everything. Cathy

Cathy: Thanks for the welcome. It is greatly appreciated. I am sooo happy for you and wish you the best with your recovery. If you ever need to talk, I'll be here. I'm working with the depression, and I also have a great husband - which makes all the difference. We have a lot to be happy about and the same for you. Thanks again, Josette
