Just a guess... Maybe your child is having what are called Atypical Absence Seizures.

The 'falls asleep' part might be the post-ictal phase where they're recovering and trying to regain more strength. Diet and/or something else unknown yet, just may be doing something to cause this.

Oh I am sorry for the trouble you are having. Check low blood sugar, sodium, magnesium, calcium, vit d, iron and b vitamins. If your baby is low in any of these, you can have a seizure also.hope this helps.http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/Lisa
