The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the Epilepsy Foundation’s social media strategy to meet Foundation’s strategic goals. The Coordinator creates content and responds appropriately to the community on the Foundation’s social media channels. Other tasks include coordinating the Foundation’s social media channels and epilepsy.com and working with the Foundation’s local organizations to ensure continuity of messages and to assist with their efforts. The Coordinator will research and recommend best practices to stay current with social media trends and technology. The Coordinator will work with the Communications and Fund Development Teams to support participation in Facebook Fundraisers and other forms of digital philanthropy through social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Communications team to develop and execute the Foundation’s social media strategy in alignment with its overall messaging and strategic goals Take the lead on monitoring the Foundation’s social media platforms and responding as appropriate to questions and feedback.
  • Recommend and create social media campaigns that support the Foundation’s mission to raise awareness about epilepsy and seizures, provide education on seizure management, and support people living with epilepsy and their caregivers.
  • Work with the Communications team and other departments when necessary, to develop and execute social media messaging that supports the Foundation’s programs, services, research, advocacy, fundraising, brand marketing and other initiatives.
  • Work with the Communications and Fund Development Teams to support and promote Facebook Fundraisers and other social media-driven philanthropy activities.
  • Support programs using live social media tools, such Facebook Live events.
  • Provide recommendations and support to local Epilepsy Foundations for social media content in support of overall Foundation messaging strategies.
  • Research and make recommendations related to the latest social media technology trends to keep the Foundation’s footprint current.
  • Prepare analytical reports on the Foundation’s social media trends and user patterns and make recommendations to continually grow our social media presence, engage the public and epilepsy community, and further the Foundation’s mission to raise awareness.
  • Create guides for the local Foundations to highlight social media strategy elements and best practices.
  • Create rich media (graphic and video) for social media.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Intimate knowledge of social media strategies, trends, and best practices.
  • Preferred, but not required, skills include graphic design and video production and editing.
