Seeking Similarities

Mon, 09/10/2018 - 23:48
Hello Everyone! I'm sure my story is similar to many others and that is what I'm hoping. Here it is.. it may be a bit of a novel... apologies. Had my third child at the end of 2014, finished nursing her a bit before her first bday. I was waiting for my first period to begin following the end of breast feeding but I got my first seizure, grand mal, at 33 and my period the next day. Had another seizure two weeks later, complete with concussion, then two months then a month, two weeks ..... seemingly random but more often than not during times where hormones would normally fluctuate/. All grandmals. Yes, catamenial epilepsy has been mentioned by my at home neuro as 'some people have that kind of epilepsy, just accept it'. No problem. Lamotrigine and Vimpat for a few months. After my stay at the monitoring unit at London Health Sciences, they switched out Lamotrigine for Aptiom. It's been fine. Tired constantly but my hair has grown back. Everything lacks depth and looks fake. Colours aren't as bright and certain combinations make me feel strange. I'm waiting for an appointment to have depth electrodes placed. The seizures at that time were starting as focals and eventually would become generalized. Now I don't know what they are. The last one was in my youngest meet the teacher for kindergarten. I was listening to the teacher, I looked at my kid, then asked hubby where the middle kid was. We had just dropped her at her class five minutes before. This is what the seizures are like now. At least one a month. This will be two in thirty days. They have changed. I have also just been diagnosed with PCOS. On mirvala BC, Metformin and Spironolactone. I had one cyst, years ago, on the right ovary. Now there are 'numerous' cysts on both. Irregular period, two full blown periods a month (prior to the new meds). The BC was given to try to restore balance. It was good for a month, that was it. Needless to say, I'm very frustrated. I really needed to get this off my chest to people who understand being in a seizure position. I'm also hoping that someone, anyone, has any information that could help me in anyway possible. Any suggestions are greatly appreciate. Thanks for reading!
