HELP

Hey. So im 18 years old and i just got diagnosed with myoclonic epilepsy. I had my first seizure just a week ago and now im on keppra. My doctor told me that i wont be able to consume alcohol. He said a beer or two is fine but nothing too extreme. I used to drink on the weekends just to relax so thats quite a challenge for me. It's my last year of school and my finals are pretty close. Keppra is making me feel dizzy and keeps me off my daily activities. I cant do my homework and my everyday tasks seem to exhaust me. I know its just the beginning but i need some advice. I dont even know why i got this. I mean none of my relatives have it. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Briviact is the chiral version of Keppra and it seems to be just as effective with more moderate side effects (i'm on it - couldn't handle being so short fused.)Ask your doc about it. Good luck!

Hey, I’ve been diagonosed with Epilepsy for 3 yrs. now I’m 25 and keppra was the first medication my doctor prescribed. At one point I had all the side effects your having while taking keppra and now that I’m taking depakote everythings a lot better I’ve been taking it for almost 2yrs. Also after being diagnosed I did notice my drinking tolerance did decrease although Im a preferred smoker after 1 cup of Jack (preferred) I’m either sleep or having a seizure.

You have to be careful, i

You have to be careful, i also take keppra 1,250mg twice a day and it exaggerates the effects of alcohol on the body. I could literally get tipsy off 1 alcoholic drink now. Also iv'e noticed certain alcohols cause me to have a seizure even if i only drink a little, i once drank vodka and ended up having a seizure. You can drink, just only have a few and dont over drink
