Medication Shortage

Mon, 04/08/2019 - 12:16
Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else experiences what seems like constant back order of medication? I feel like this is happening every other month with me. I just received a call from the pharmacy saying they have been trying to order my medication and it hasn't been available so it won't be in until tomorrow evening. That means I will miss my morning dose. That is a big deal for me. Does anyone else experience this?

That is a very big deal! No I have not experienced such a thing with my Dilantin, Zonisamide, or Briviact, which I was on last year.  What medication is it?  I wonder if that makes a difference.Mike

Also talk to your doctor

Also talk to your doctor about this problem and how to address issues where you'll miss doses. It could be your pharmacy but there can be drugs that have issues. Either way, it's a big big deal that your insurance should not be ok about (aka you might need to raise a stink with your state insurance office if your insurance is cutting things too close and your care is impacted). Someone was complaining about some drug available a while back but sometimes manufacturers stop making something and the pharmacy just needs to change suppliers (our preferred lamotrigine manufacturer stopped product, so we had to switch).
