Lamictal and prednisone

Thu, 06/21/2018 - 19:17
I have been seizure free on lamictal for just over 3 years until a month ago. I was taking a prednisone taper pack at the time and I was wondering if this may have caused me to have a breakthrough seizure? My levels really dropped too. Has anyone experienced any interactions between lamictal and prednisone? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

People that take medications

People that take medications to control an issue should always check with their doctors before using another medication. Did you check with your neurologist before using prednisone? You posted your levels really dropped. Were those levels your lamictal levels? If they were then the presnisone may have lowered them. But only your neurologist would know. However you need to know that as your body gets used to your medication dosages need to be changed and your levels need to be checked from time to time. If prednisone is for something like acid reflux then it works in the stomach and could have an affect since your meds generally have to get to your liver or kidney before they completely breakdown and that is another reason your levels need to be checked.I hope this helpsJoeP.S. I also went 3 years without a seizure but I had one. I had mine because I was working in a industrial kitchen. They do get hot. One of the triggers I have  is getting to hot to fast.
