Keppra and hand tremors

Sat, 10/26/2019 - 21:08
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with epilepsy one year ago after 2 grande mal seizures, one month apart. They started me on Keppra, which i still take at 1500 mg a day. After 6 months they added 150 Lamictal X2 a day, which I have now been on 5 months. The intention was to eventually get me off the Keppra because the side effects have been rough. I am seizure free now for 6 months. In the last month I have noticed that my hands are getting shaky- especially the left one, most noticeable in the thumb when texting. It comes and goes. My right hand doesn't shake as much but I have noticed my writing is getting worse. I don't want to be all doomsday and think there is something else going on, so I am curious. Has anyone on these medications experienced anything similar?

Hi Blondie101, Thank you for posting, we are glad to hear that you have not had a seizure in 6 months, that fantastic news! Treatment varies for each individual, so it’s important that you're following- up with your doctor to determine what individual treatment plan is best for you and if you experience any changes in seizure types, frequency, behaviors, side effects and symptoms The goal of treatment with medicines should be –No Seizures and No Side Effects. However, we know that some individuals may experience too many side effects, that are very bothersome. To learn more about Keppra, Lamictal and seizure medication side effects, please visit: https://www.epilepsy.com/learn/treating-seizures-and-epilepsy/seizure-and-epilepsy-medicines/side-effects You may want to consider keeping a diary, or a journal. Hi, I have been on Keppra

Hi, I have been on Keppra since February 2017, i was on 1500mg twice a day but have been reduced to 750 twice a day along with 200mg Vimpat. I have noticed since the drop from 1500 to 750 that I have extremely shaky hands and arms, to a point I have been asked do i have an issue or parkinsons in my family, which is a no. This is a bit nosey but this will be for myself, Are you active and do you eat much? I still play football with training twice a week and a match on a sunday with a spinning class in between but I dont eat a whole lot and dont find myself hungry very often, unable to force feed myself either, I was just curious is this common or just myself.
