Felbatol

Does anyone have experience with taking Felbatol? I was taking Dilantin and Depakote for about 18 yrs. when my system began to no longer absorb the meds. I'm now on a Trileptal/Keppra combo but my neurologist wants me to consider using Felbatol if, this doesn't work out.

Hi, I have never heard of Felbatol. I am currently taking Keppra & Trileptal also. I just had a right temporal lobectomy in Jan and am still having seizures. Complex partial seizures. I have had some success, but I just look at every little thing as one day closer to being seizure-free. I take the trileptal at night only and 1500mg of Keppra total a day. 500 am and 1000 along with 300mg of trileptal at night.

My daughter was on a felbatol a long time ago and it worked very good. Then she got real crabby with it. Took her off of it. Also had to watch her blood for the serious side affects. Just tried her on it again because nothing else seemed to be working but with no luck. We signed the paper stating we knew the serious side affects and started her on it. Her seizures got worse and different and her mood was terrible again. She is just about off of it - tomorrow she will not receive any more - we have seen the new seizures go away and the mood is getting much better again. Her blood and liver were not affected by it either.

My teen-age daughter is on Felbatol and it works well. What do you mean by "...my system began to no longer absorb the meds."? Monthly blood work with Felbatol is required to monitor liver functions. Thanks. Barbi
