Losing Wieght and epliepsy

Sat, 09/30/2017 - 10:33
Hello I have been on a variety of eplipsy drugs since I was seven I am now entering my early twenties and I find it difficult to lose weight. For most of that time I have been on Tegratol. I was wondering if anyone who has had epliespy since a formative age also finds it hard to lose weight. I walk everyday, excerise fairly regularly and dont eat huge amounts. Its not that I am huge i am just definetly thick around the middle and no matter what I always seem to have a podge on my belly. Do any of you guys have similar expirence or any advice. I cant switch from tegratol as its the only drug that seems to work. thanks prematurely F

Yes I have the same problem. I would like to lose 20 pounds and I joined a gym last summer. I started taking spin classes and if I did a resistance of 5 or higher then I had a seizure later on that day! Scary! I’m scared to cycle now or swim and running has never been my thing. I feel kind of stuck myself. I created a little gym in my garage so I’ll give that a go and see what happens. Frustrating!!!!

My 17-yr-old daughter is having the same problem. It's so hard to hear her crying about her weight. She's not overweight, but carries her weight in her middle. She exercises daily, eats fruits, veggies, protein, and other healthy items. No bread and most often uses veggies for pasta. I used to work for Weight Watchers as a Leader so I'm confident in what she is eating and her quantities. We're fighting issues with estrogen/progesterone now (menopausal levels of both) which may be part of the equation. You're not alone! The best advice is to start writing down what you eat, weigh and measure your portions. With that information, you can work with someone to see if there's anything more that needs to be done.
