epilepsy and monthly cycle
Sat, 01/15/2005 - 14:01Hi, I am a 42-year old women who has had epilepsy since my early 20's. My first seizure was during a miscarriage (I have had 3 and had seizures after 2 of them). Any other seizures have occurred only during the onset of my period or when I have forgotten to take my medication. My seizures have been relatively under control. I have two children already and am not planning on having anymore due to health risks and my age. I was told by one doctor that my seizures seemed to be related to my monthly cycle and the stress and blood loss during my miscarriages. Has anyone heard of anyone who had their seizures decrease after a hysterectomy? I am considering having this done by laser since the risks are relatively low. I would appreciate it if anyone has any information on the subject.
Thank you.

This may sound funny coming from a guy, and I can only give you a patial answer, but since I see nobody has answered I guess you can take my answer for what you feel it's worth. I have heard of other women having seizures at the time of there monthly cycle and from my experience stress definitely brings on seizures reguardless what the stress comes from so maybe you would be best to go ahead. Good luck to you reguardless of your decidion, Bob
