Weird Insecure Feeling

Every once in a while i get this feeling in which i cant explain very well. I feel insecure all day and i just lay down and sleep most of the time. I really dont like it and i want to know if i can prevent it. What usually happens is, i start to lose my sense of direction and get really freaked out.. I try to get to a safe place to sit down or lay down as fast as possible, but when i cant i start to run into stuff and i start shaking and if i keep shaking i will go into a grand mal. However most of the time it stops before the shaking part and its all good.. but i get that feeling a lot during the day and it gets really annoying and it makes me just want to stay inside the whole day. I want to know if anyone else has something like this.

Hello Alex, My husband gets a similar feeling. He does not go into a seizure from it but he gets this feeling that he can't explain too. I posted for the first time tonight. If you can find it the subject is My husband has seizures from a car accident in 1977. Anyway he has tried to explain this to the doc several times and the doc does not seem to understand what he is saying. He feels strange and kind of panics and sweats. He has to sit down and put his head down. It can last for up to a few minutes or all day. A couple of times he has felt this way for as much as three days in a row. I have seen similar posts on here but you are the first person that has come close to what he is saying. The doc did a 24 hr eeg which came up normal. He didn't have this feeling while wearing the monitor. He was dizzy a few times. So the doc said he would lower the depekote er which he did but things have not improved. We go to the doc Aug 9th and I don't know what will happen then. I think we need to find a new doc I don't know. Have you told your doc about this? If so does he have the same reaction as ours does? I will let you know what he says when we go again although I think it will be the same as always. The big I don't know. Let me know what your doc says as well. Thank you. Shelly

yes. that sounds very much like what i have.. and the doc at first thought it was just anxiety but i know its not, so he doesnt know what it is. And same thing with the EEG, mine came up completely normal.

First of all, the EEG is not the be all and end all of diagnostic testing.  There are plenty of other options.   See http://epilepsytalk.com/2010/03/31/beyond-eegs%e2%80%a6diagnostic-tools-for-epilepsy/

Secondly, have either of you (or your husband) tried Lamical?  At it's lowest dose, it's an anti-depressant.  At its next level, it's for seizure control and at its highest level, it's for bi-polar disorders.  Klonopin is also an anti-anxiety, anti-seizure med.

I take Lamictal, supplemented by Klonopin and that has turned out to be my "magic med mix."

Good luck to you!   Phylis Feiner Johnson   www.epilepsytalk.com
