What to expect from the Med board

Hey everyone,

I am currently a 19yr old in the Navy and have had 3 grand mal seizures since Feb. of 2015. The first one they told me I was dehydrated and to just drink lots of water. About 9 days later after working out I layed my head down to close my eyes and next thing I knew I was in the hospital, I had one seizure before I made it to the hospital and a worse one in the ER. I didn't fully wake up and understand what happend until almost 24 hours later. I was diagnosed with epilepsy and put on medication right away, I was told I'm non-deployable and cannot stay on the ship I was living on. I am overseas and am waiting for orders back to the states to go through the IDES program, and I have so many questions as to what my beneifits will be because I am told that I will most likely be getting discharged. I am okay with this, I'm super family oriented person and can't wait to go home. Now I am being told I might not get my full 9/11 G.I bill because I haven't been in the navy long enough (one year). The way I see it though, I didn't choose to have these seizures, and it's not like I could of chose to wait three more years to have had them so I could get better benefits. I have also been told depending on how many seizures you've had and how bad they were is the determination of your % for disability pay, for ex. If you've had at least 1 grand mal seizure in the last 4 months you qualify for 60%. If you've had 4 grand mal seizures in the last 2 yrs you get 80%....etc. A VA rep showed me a chart that had all of those numbers on it but then another VA rep told me differently that it only depends on how many you've had total.

I would just like to know if anyone has recently been discharged or is going to be and knows what the process is and what you can qualify for? I have all this different info thrown at me and I'm not sure which is correct.

Epilepsy was a big change I didn't see coming, I hope you can help, and thank you very much in advance!!
