Medical marijuana/CBD oil

Sun, 10/21/2018 - 16:26
I’ve had seizures for over 25 years as a result of encephalitis. I’ve taken about every anti-convulsive med on the market and combinations thereof. I had an SEEG to see if I was a surgical candidate - no dice. I decided after that to try CBD. It worked somewhat but did not completely control the seizures. The distributor of the CBD suggested that I try Rick Simpson Oil. That helped for awhile, too. But the RSO has THC in it which has the side effects of marijuana. And it was initially produced for cancer patients so I don’t know if it is overkill. What I like to know is if anyone has had success with CBD oil controlling their seizures. I’m particularly interested in Charlotte’s Web CBD. A couple of days ago, I posted a reply to someone on the Epilepsy Foundation website with similar issues as mine. I had to create a Facebook account since the person did not want to name the company they received the CBD from on the website. Since I’m new to Facebook, I have no idea if the person got my post or not. But I am desperately looking for some input into how CBD is working for seizure control and what brand of CBD they are using to control them. If anyone has info on this, I’d really appreciate it. Also, I really wish the government would get their act together and make medical marijuana available nationwide. When I was in Cleveland Clinic for my SEEG, the neurologists told me they would very much like to do studies on seizure control and medical marijuana, but they couldn’t because of federal laws. We need this plant to be available to all patients who need it for cancer, pain management and seizure control. Maybe we wouldn’t have this opioid problem if medical marijuana was available!

I too have tried many

I too have tried many medications for seizures (16) but I have no experience with CBD.  One comment I want to make is regarding getting CBD studies.  I just read the book, The Truth About Drug Companies, which describes the profit-making strategies of the big drug companies.  After reading this book I imagine that if the government supported studies on CBD for seizure control a drug company would probably patent a CBD-based drug.  It would be very expensive and, because it would be patented, any individuals or small companies producing CBD would be taken to court by the big pharmaceutical companies.

some states have approved CBD

some states have approved CBD for use in treatment of different things..Bout every medication and combinations…<< with there being 60+ different medications and you tried them all you have tried more then I have in the 50+ years I have been dealing with epilepsy and seizures. Now you do need to understand that some states have approved MJ and mostly for the use in the medical field.  >>  https://www.marijuanadoctors.com/conditions/epilepsy/  <<<is the one you might want to research since you can bring up doctors and dispensaries near you. Here in Texas you must see several doctors and have been on a certain number of mediations. Those neurologists would know the best CBD for the use in seizure control. I tried at least 20 medications. Also tried different couplings fo medications. Today I could have a seizure while I was in front of you and you wouldn't know I had it. They are now a few seconds long and affect my right hand only.I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need.Joe

To be honest I would never take  anything other than proven epileptic drugs prescribed by my neurologist and I have had epilepsy for 20 years .However its a personal choice and I know others who have  tried unconventional drugs and other alternatives .All to no avail I must add but its different for everyone and I wish you well .
