I was diagnosed to have both epilepsy and panic attacks. There is no question that I have epilepsy based on the EEG and MRI. I questioned whether or not my panic attacks were really panic attacks. Both my neuro. and family Dr. said I had panic attacks but I didn't believe them because before each seizure I had a supposed panic attack and I did not believe that it was just a coincidence. I went to a different neuro and got a new general Dr. They believed that these rapid heartbeats were related to my seizures and put me into the hospital for a few days to have a video EEG which means that you are hooked up to a EEG and heart monitor for 24 hours a day. I had an episode that the other doctors said was a panic attack and this proved they were wrong. They were in fact simple partial seizures that progressed into a complex partial seizure. I would suggest that even if you are diagnosed with epilepsy you still should get a 2nd opinion. My new neuro says it's actually not that uncommon for your heart rate to change either up or down. Take care if you have any more questions I would be happy to answer them. Good luck.

Good morning Angeleyes, I have the same thing happen when I have a seizure and I am diagnosed with (complex partial seizures). I do black out and not know what is happening at the time, but with others I can just remember pieces of what happened as I start to come out of it. I can sometimes hear my husband say to people "she will be ok, just let her wake up", or I will hear him tell me I had a seizure and I am not quite back to reality yet. I black out, then I sometimes will drop to the floor of just walk like a sleep walker and my hands will do weird things because my brain isn't telling them what to do. I have torn phone books about in half during a seizures. I almost broke my hubby's hand while holding hands and going into a seizure. I get very strong and it is hard to them to keep me still during one. It sounds to me that you may have about the same type as I do, but I am not a doctor. I would definately get a second opinon. I am lucky because I have a great Neurologist, but I am considering seeing if there are any e-ologist around my area. I didn't spell that right, but from what I understand it is a doctor that just studies in Epilepsy, and neurologist study all sorts nerve problems. I just don't know if there are any in my area yet til I check into it. Hope you get some answers from your doctors. Have a great day and God Bless.
