Newbie questions regarding 'mentors' & 'seizures'

Hi there

I've just joined so please have patience with me. I would very much appreciate anyone taking the time to read this.

I was diagnosed with TLE about 10 years ago but the accompanying depression was much more of an issue and so I've been focussing on that. (Question: does depression always accompany epilepsy?)

Now that I've found the most fantastic doctors and meds have been getting more effective, I've realised how closely related everything is, from anxiety, to depression, to the epilepsy itself. Now I'm interested and I wanted a forum where I can ask questions. I also wanted a forum where I can contribute because I have the most amazing marriage where these issues are dealt with wonderfully and if I can help anyone with their loved ones or how to handle things, I'd love to contribute there.

Two questions:

The first is...on this forum, are there 'mentors' of some kind or 'veterans' if I can call them that, basically people that know all there is to know about their own condition, have investigated for years and can guide us, or is this the kind of forum where we kind of help each other limp along with the little bits we know, like putting a puzzle together?

Second...there are three experiences I have asked my psych about and she doesn't know whether its the TLE or whether its the meds: the first is an overwhelming attention to detail: i can look at a brick and suddenly begin to see every grain and i look at people's faces and it seems as if i know each one although i know i don't. this can last a few hours. i read something somewhere that described something like this. it's hard to explain. the second experience is something like shivers down my back but its not physical, its more like shivers in the brain. the third: if you put yours hands over your ears, take them away, put them back....if you did this very rapidly three or four times....i get that often. like a discontinuation of daily noise? does anyone else get that? are these seizures?

thank you for the space on this forum:)

regards

isabel austin
