Hi all,Excuse me if this doesn't make too much sense or if I leave stuff out, my brain is sort of in haze. I have a major mental illness, and was diagnosed years and years ago with a disrythmic migraine, which I guess is also a type of seizure pattern. I've started having what my doctors think are complex partial seizures. They are afraid they are progressing.I have been having bouts of dizziness, followed by confusion, nausea, not knowing what end is up in general, and then I sleep for about twenty hours. It came on all of a sudden. I also smell fire a lot. I know with my MI, that the medication takes up to a week or more to work. I didn't think to ask my doctor if that was the case with the seizure medicine (depakote, btw). I guess I feel a little better (a little less wonky), but I still seem to be having dizzy spells, confusion and smell fire a little too frequently for my liking. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow, and ask, but I was wondering what your experiences were.take careshoe

Hi....Lee here,

What you are discribing are some of the same sorts of "odd" feelings I have been experiencing the last year or so.  Not quite Deju Vu spells but almost, not really dizzy but off balance momentarily, flashing lights (like a strobe) for just a second seen by just one eye, odors missing more often then present, a twitch on the inside of my upper right thigh (similar to a cell phone battery vibration), and other little bothersome things.

I am finding that by documenting their occurances there is a pattern that seems to be corresponding with some of the more exciting parts of menopause like sever hot flashes, wider mood swings, depression, exhileration, etc.  This leads me to believe that hormones may be adding to the whole equation  - for better or worse I have no clue.

It takes a bit to adjust to new or changes in meds but if it is bothersome or scary - definately let your doctor know.  Your issues may be connected to your cycle and knowing that may be more reassuring - or not.  I don't know how I feel about it yet but I know that I am less frightened and therefore less stressed when I check my calendar log and see that it is about that time.  It is information I can provide my doc so we can find out what it might really mean for me.

Hope this helps you some....................Lee
