hi from Honeybear

Hi I have just joined and thought that I would say hello. I am from the UK and I have been having seizures since the beggining of 2005. My seizures started off as being drop attacks but in June I had my first tonic clonic seizure and that was very scary as it was very long and I almost went into status. I am taking Lamictal and Topiramte and they are starting to help my seizures which is really good. I am visually impaired and so I have a guide dog who is so cute. She also sometimes can detect some of my seizures which is really good. I am hoping that with time she will be able to detect more of them. I am hoping that if my seizures reduce a bit more with in the next couple of months I can go back to university and finish my degree in physiotherapy. Happy new year to you all take care from Honeybear

Hi Honeybear, So nice to have you join this community. Both my 22 year old daughter and I have seizures, and everyone on this site ahs been so helpful and encouraging. I know you will find the same sense of community. That is wonderful about your guide dog !! Dogs have such a heightend sense of awareness, that it is very possible that she could be come a seizure alert dog too. How lucky you are for that !! I will wish for a huge reduction in your seizures, and that your meds keep them under in control so that you may go back to university. Keep us posted on how you are doing, okay? Blessings, and happy new year !! Barbie *************************************** "We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can fly only by embracing each other." -lucian de crescenzo

Hi again I just want to say thank you for the nice welcome. 2005 was a hard year, but I am hoping that 2006 is going to be great. I am really hoping that I can get back to university next month so fingers crossed. The guide dog association have looked into making my guide dog into a seizure alert dog. I think it would be a great idea as she is detecting some of them already but then I think she has a hard job that she loves being a guide dog. I love her loads and I do not want to put added pressure on her. If she starts detecting most of my seizures then I think I will go for it but untill then I think i will leave it. Do you think this is a good idea? thanks again Honeybear
