most people with epilepsy don’t have a family history of seizures. there are other possible causes of seizures that aren’t due to epilepsy so it’s hard to say. the stats say that one in ten people will have a seizure, but one in 26 people have epilepsy at some point in their life. ideally a person records odd episodes if one is having odd sensations or experiences.

You or your brother need to

You or your brother need to keep track of every "fit" that he experiences as well as every medication that he tries.  Doctor rely upon this information very much when they diagnose and treat this condition.  It's not like going in to have your blood pressure checked or getting ex rays.  With epilepsy doctors depend heavily upon patients and those who witness the seizures to make their judgments.
