Rv travel trailer loan issues

Thu, 01/18/2018 - 03:28
I need to ask you guy, is it considered discrimination if a bank refuses to give you a loan for an rv just because i dont have a drivers license? The dealer ship that said this bank would except me at first but then after they asked for me for ID they said sorry we cannot give you this loan because its not a drivers license. I told them i cant get it because i have epilepsy but i have friends that can pull this trailer when going camping and hunting. It almost made me wonder if thats discrimination to take away someones life that cannot get a drivers license because of their disability.

I would say it is illegal

I would say it is illegal discrimination, but the dealer and/or banks would probably argue then that it was an insurance issue on drivers moving the trailer being insured with insurance which includes direct insurance on the trailer.  Then, with my experiences, and if they are no more honest than businesses I’ve dealt with, they would dream up all types of nonsensical excuses and deny they made any remarks about a driver’s license being required.   A legal case involving required drivers license for a loan from a credit union being in violation of the ADAA is Acosta versus NuVision:http://acb.org/content/jury-awards-blind-war-vet-160000-discrimination-credit-union-0https://www.leagle.com/decision/infdco20140423818

It is more of a safety issue,

It is more of a safety issue, you can compare it if you wan't to drunk drivers.  Do you wan't them on the road?  Now if you where buying this to be your primary living facility, I can see a case.  I also have epilepsy, and a State Issued ID Card.  I cannot Drive, Use a gun etc.  For the reason that it puts others in harms way.  It is just my opinion that the bank is required do to the seizures to act in such a manner.  Check what your states regulations are regarding seizures and driving, as they vary from state to state, but most you have to go so long without one and get doctor's written consent.  I do strongly agree with you though that it does put a damper on ones ability to accomplish some of the most basic tasks, especially when you live in a smaller community.

I do strongly agree with you
