Lifetime of seizures

I have had seizures since I was 8, and I am 50 now, I had brain surgery when I was 35 and had to stop working. I was told there was a chance I would stop taking medication, but if you have epilepsy, you know the odds of that. I thought that stopping would be a good thing, but after giving up my drivers license, I realized I was wrong. I think back to that time, and regret having that surgery because a couple of years later, I had a VNS implanted and even though I still take medicine, I don't have seizures anymore. My problem is, I was a great salesman before I had surgery and I have been on disability for so long it is hard to get to get back in the workforce again, along with the loss of insurance. I'm not saying I am depressed, but it can get depressing when you live inside your house and don't work.

I have had seizures since age 7 am now 52. I'm a CPA, so I know that professionals can have a very active professional life outside of our epilepsy. I'm kind of scared because my doctor told me that I should consider brain surgery since my epilepsy has gotten progressively worse. I understand where you are coming from completely!
