Is it likely I have nocturnal epilepsy?

Sun, 10/16/2016 - 18:11
Hi. My wife tells me that last night I had seizures while sleeping. My body was shaking and I was making a moaning like noise. I did not wake up. It happened within an hour of falling asleep and I had a very tough stressful day. To make matters worse I had very little sleep the night before so was very tired. I also have a back condition that keeps me in consistent pain, which I had made worse because of work that day. Parts of my body feel like they've been heavily exercised when I woke up. To my knowledge I have not had anything like this previously (although I do have sleep apnea). I have looked around on the internet for answers today and came across this group. Before I ask my doctor I wanted to get some opinions from people who might know things. Does my experience sound like nocturnal epilepsy? Is one instance not worth doing anything about? Some background that might be helpful? I''m 35 and also have diabetes. (Don't know if that matters) The idea of my brain going a little haywire while sleeping is scary. Any help or insight would be welcome. Thanks

Yup I got in a MVA in 2013

Yup I got in a MVA in 2013 and have had seizures since. 5-7 fractured vertebrae have caused constant pain and disrupted sleep which intern cause recurring seizures from basically not sleeping since 2013. Of course no specialist Dr will connect those dots and they each want to treat each individual problem with their own mix of Rx's and won't comment on anything outside their specialty. I've tried many different Rx's and the only thing that prevents seizures is not doing activities that stain my back injury which then would trigger seizures within 12-24 hours. We know more about what is going on with our own bodies and why than some drug healing drs. After too much work/strain I will have seizures in my sleep the following night and then they continue to cluster and continue the following day. I am sore for days after.
