Assistance on Possible Epilepsy

Dear All,

Just being recently diagnosed with epilepsy, I would just like to find out from others if they have had similar symptoms and is this related to epilepsy.

I am 23 years old, and was involved in a head on collision 3 years ago whilst working in Angola.

My first seizure occured the end of 2011, I was on a flight back from the Northern Cape in South Africa back to Johannesburg. It was a short trip lasted approximately two days. My flight left early that morning at 6am so I had to leave home at 4am. I flew back the next day late the afternoon, when I had the seizure. Symptoms I experienced were anxiety, then a black out and when getting up from my seat I felt weak and collapsed leading to my seizure. Neurologists said this was as a result from flight sickness.

About 6 months later I was having a very stressful time at work and working very long hours resulting in me being very tired. This when I experienced similar symptoms. Feeling tired, in addition having blurred vision, black out and then leading to my seizure having convulsions and having severe pins and needles in my right arm. Rushed to the emergency room, neurologists then concluded that I might have epilepsy and then followed to do MRI, CT scan and EEG. Everything came back normal except the EEG which didnt show spiking but abnormal slowing down of the brain.

About a week later exactly the same thing occured, exactly the same symptoms. I am now on epilim. About a week ago I usually feel and aura/anxiety/tired and then I now I am going to have a seizure so I take activan to prevent the seizure which helped. After a month of being on my medication I am starting to feel different, react differenty.

So this is the seizures but I have a few questions regarding other areas of my life and is this as a result of me having epilepsy? I constantly feel tired and sometimes the lack of concentration, the constant strive to be more moral and religious, over-analystic (could be a personality trait), perfectionism, constant desire to be accepted by society, lack of self-worth? I am completely normal in every aspect of my life (No disabilities, physical deformaties, I am healthy, very successful). I did read somewhere about frontal lobe epilepsy and that some things can be related to epilepsy, so I am not sure what to believe and if these can be even related.

I just wish to seek some clarifaction regarding this and if anyone else has similar symptoms. I live a completely normal life before and after I was diagnosed. I still do powerlifting everyday, eat healthy, play rugby, work, study. I just feel "lack of energy" or a mental zoned out feeling when doing some activities.

Thank you,
