Lamictal and side effects

Fri, 10/31/2014 - 09:18

Hi everyone, I just started taking Lamictal and I am noticing some itchiness....I don't have a rash, and I'm watching this closely b/c I know severe rash is a side-effect.  I was just wondering if anyone else has had itchiness from this medication and if so, does it go away after a short time?  I've only been on this medication for a couple of days.  I am waiting to hear back from my MD, but figured I'd ask others too....

It takes a little time for th ebody to get used to the medications and the  dosage of said medication. Generally a neurologist will want the patient to come back in a month or 2 so they can check with the patient as to how th medication is working. He will have questions and you need to answer those questions honestly. So keep track of the seizures you have and what happened during the day you had one. If you are having fewer seizures then the medication is working but the dosage may need to be raised or lowered. As for the itchiness. There are many things that can cause itchiness. I have a problem when I get around certain trees and even some gardens. If your itchiness goes away then don't worry about it. If it turns into a rash and gets worse then by all means call the neurologist and discuss it with him.  I hope you get your meds working and you get seizure free. Joe
