Fycompa

Has anyone tried this new medicine? I was diagnosed 2 years ago with TLE and started on generic for trileptal. It didn't work for me- caused more seizures, so I was switched to generic Keppra. Keppra was working fine but the side effects of constant dull headaches and anxiety were getting to me. Neuro switched me to generic Keppra XR to see if a more level dose would help. I had severe headaches and depression on that so now he wants me to try this new medicine called fycompa. I see the main side effects seem to be headaches, dizziness, and weight gain. None of those are things I look forward to however, I know that everyone responds differently to medicines. I can't find much info online about this medicine so I thought I would ask on here. Thanks for any info you can give me!!! I am really nervous about a medicine change. I didn't handle the switch from Trileptal to Keppra very well. I have tried to avoid another medicine change but the side effects of Keppra are keeping me from living a productive life.

A medication that works for

Submitted by just_joe on Fri, 2015-06-05 - 19:18
A medication that works for one person may not for the next,Side effects do happen. I am fully aware of how those side effects get put down. It takes a period of time for a persons body to get used to the medication which is generally 3-6 weeks. OPnce used to it the side effects generally go away. However a person can have a side effect that doesn't go away and the numbers could rance from 5-8% of the people taking the meadication. So if yo uresearch posts regarding a medication and you found a lot posting it dodn't work or they didn't like the medications because of the side effect remember that there are 92-95% of the perople taking it are having no problems with it.
