Why be afraid of having a seizure?? Why be overly cautious? Yes one must use common sense and protect themselves. But many people let their epilepsy control them rather then controlling their epilepsy. Think about it some. They will not do this or that because they MIGHT have a seizure. Do they think about getting hit by a car when crossing the street? Do people that have heart conditions worry about their next heart attack? Hey I have A-fib  but it is controlled with meds. So is my epilepsy. All they have to do is find a good neurologist that they like and talk to and they can get their epilepsy controlled. Many people do not know epilepsy can be controlled and the person with epilepsy can still have seizures. I will never be completely seizure free. But my doctors and I know that I have control of my epilepsy. By working with them and asking questions about medications and procedures we have gotten my seizures down to a seizure every week to 10 days that last a few seconds. I have had them while talking to friends and they didn't know I had them.

Honestly? Yeah, I do get

Honestly? Yeah, I do get afraid a lot. And the meds sometimes make me anxious so it might be mostly from that. But I try not to let that stop me from doing anything! I'm in graduate school, and I'm a teacher. I often worry about what would happen if, say, I had a TC during class. My seizures are painful and terrifying, even though they're infrequent. But I have a lot of encouragement from my friends and family to do everything I want to do and not give in to the fear. (And because I act braver about them it makes my friends less nervous--my most nervous friend, who has OCD, once saw me have a TC. Now she tells me she's not worried to be with me if i have a seizure because she'll know exactly what to do.) So I learned that you can't be brave unless you're scared.
