Tics....

Fri, 01/05/2018 - 14:29
My son is six years old and has had four bouts of tics in his life so far, the first one being at two yrs old. At first it was blinking, now a few weeks ago he developed an eye opening wide one, mostly when tired or concentrating. My husband has epilepsy. He started having seizures six years ago. He has one grand maul a month. Is it possible that my son may grow up to have seizure too. Should I let the, run his course or make an appt for a scan.

Tics are small partial motor

Submitted by mereloaded on Fri, 2018-02-02 - 10:08
Tics are small partial motor seizures. My son whom is epileptic expriences a small single eye twitch when he is nervous. Now, please beware that blinking could be confused with eye fluttering which is an epilepsy symptom. Tics can be a symptom of Tourettes syndrome, but the family history of epilepsy combined with the tics and blinking I will strongly suggest you make an appointment with a pediatric neurologist.
