ok so i am 14, 15 this year. i was diagnosed at age 8 with epilepsy but my mother denied it so i would miss days of school from headaches stomach aches and stuff and my dad work away so he wasn't always here and my parents split up a few times and in 2016 my 5 year old brother was diagnosed with a brain tumer and it was draged through social media so we could help me and now i live with my dad and we are now trying medications and i dont feel any different from before and it turned out that i have a seizure every 10 or less seconds i have not had a really big seizure since i was 8 and that was around 40ish minutes and last year i had a small seizure that i was conscious for which was very scary because i had never been conscious before for a seizure. What also scares me is that my uncle has epilepsy but his is so bad he has to go into a home and i dont want to do the same as i get older. My friends also dont want to acknowledge that i have epilepsy and it feels like a huge wall between us and i also cant make friends because i feel like they are only talking and being my friend because they feel pitty for me. and now i am home schooled by my dad because i was struggling in school too much and i want to get into med school and prove the world wrong

My teen got diagnosed with

My teen got diagnosed with epilepsy a few days before his 15th birthday. Way to start his freshman year of high school. You are not alone! A lot of people get diagnosed during their teen years which makes it specially difficult, I hear you.My son is now 19. He goes to community college, has a job and drives. There was a learning curve to get to this point, which included non pleaseant episodes that stemmed from him thinking that “he didn’t need to take his medication anymore” and rebelling against lifestyle restrictions ... he learned the hard way, but boys are all foolish. I’m sure you being a bright young lady know better.Don’t feel sorry for yourself and don’t be ashamed. There is nothing to be ashamed off. Your friends maybe just scared because they don’t understand so it is up to you to let them know that you are ok and there is nothing to fear, even after that some friends may choose to step away and you need to be prepared for that. Other better friends will come along, at this age people don’t have the maturity to handle a lot of stuff.Dream and dream big. Yes, you can!
