Memory problem

Wed, 03/14/2018 - 03:10
Im 14 yr female and I had a 2 severe grand mal seizures ( with history of seizures ) by what I was told I became unconscious and started jerking severely and the grand mal lasted almost 8 minutes and I was suffocating ( going through cyanosis ) on my own vomit because I had no air to push it out so they had to use suction to get the vomit out of my throat and mouth then i was given oxygen it stopped for around 15-45 seconds then started going into another grand mal but they gave me a huge dose of lorazepam, Benadryl, and epinephrine and then I almost suffered cardiac arrest but luckily they got my heart to slow down and I got better. This happened 4-7 weeks ago and I’ve had severe memory loss and recall not much since the grand mal seizure ( but I had not that good of memory before but it got much worse after I had the grand mal and it’s also not the first time I’ve had a grand mal ) and have mild to somewhat bad confusion spells. Does this mean I’m probably going to have bad memory for awhile/possibly forever? - my mom helped me write this

A seizure can do it's fair

A seizure can do it's fair share of brain damage and can make you forgetful( memory loss). You can talk to your school about that and I'm sure they will give accommodations. I was diagnosed with a memory disorder 10 years ago and my high school gave it's share of help when it needed to. Take notes when you have to. Take pictures when you have to. Throughout high school and college, my schedule and classes were in photos on my phone or written down because I could not remember where they were or what my teacher's names were. If you think this is going to last a long time, there are tutors for this
