Infant Rejecting Keppra

Sun, 01/21/2018 - 23:13
Our 5 month old had his first seizure last week and his neurologist prescribed keppra. The first few days he took the medication fine but now he hates the taste and throws a huge fit every time we try to give him the meds. Sometimes he gets so upset he gags and throws up the medicine. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get the keppra down? We’ve tried a medipop pacifier and a kangaroo tube and neither work.

ask your neurologist’s office

ask your neurologist’s office what works. there may be a compounding pharmacy nearby that can flavor it sufficiently or some other approach that works but, I’ve got to note, the stuff tastes incredibly vile according to our child who has had a few different meds and understood taking the meds was important.
