Annoyed with my epilepsy

Wed, 06/06/2018 - 22:53
Hi I’m 12, but I’m going to turn 13 in 12 days. I’ve been having seizures since I was a baby. My parents said my first seizure was when I was 6 months old. I’ve been living with it since then. They were pretty bad when I was little 6 months-7 years old and then they started getting a little better (I didn’t have them as often anymore). But then when I was 11 I tried playing softball and I was having seizures almost everyday (and the days I wasn’t having seizures I was ALMOST having them) my dad took me out :/. And now I’m having them a little more often (like I could used to go like a year without them but now I have at least one a year with close calls). My dad says I have seizures when I get too hot (hence exercising isn’t good). I don’t even know what kind of seizures I have cause my doctor has never told me. Here’s a run down of what happens during a doctor visit: Asks if I’ve had any seizures Takes blood pressure Doctor comes in and taps my joints Talks a bit Leaves And now I’m just super annoyed with my epilepsy. It’s been limiting what I can do. I’m not allowed to exercise or play sports. I can’t go on big rides or do fun things (I had a seizures ice skating, I think due to increased heart rate from being scared), I can’t do anything. Not only have I been having more seizures, but I also have panic and anxiety attacks. I literally had one just yesterday. I just want them to go away. I don’t know if they’ll ever go away

I know parents and

I know parents and limitations can be annoying. My parents kept me out of swimming in PE class when I was in school and the teacher just made me walk around the pool every day. If your seizures are once a year, you still have to visit the doctor to refill all of your pills and make sure nothing changes. Honestly, the only way I ever found out what my seizures look like is reading the medical reports at my house that I found on my mom's computer.
