hey,

what do you guys who have comlex partial seizures with the auras tell people when you have a seizure, i mean the fiends or family who dont know your epileptic?  I get embarrased, i've been told that if the people that dont know you cant even tell, i usally make up some weird story, because when i come too i'm confused and i'm not really all their, is their anyone on the same page or that can talk about something like that?

Well I know excatly where your coming from, only mine started out as just falling down, jerking movements, dropping things-not knowing what was going on.I was about nine when it started until I turned 14 then I had a grand-mal siezure and I guess could'nt hide it any longer.I'm 31 now -just had to turn over my license after 15years of driving-seizures are now two different types that I have-so to me I just take it one day at a time and keep JESUS on my side.

I tell people who I think I want to have an on going relationship with that I have seizures. I give them the information and if they cannot handle it --then I tell them that I understand but that perhaps it is best we don't become friends. ALL my friends know I have seizures and they handle it just fine. I am not a freak and neither are you-- illnesses are illnesses and since seizures are not contagious why should it matter. I have SPS and CPS and sometimes I am "there" and sometimes I am not. It is a fact of life. I am a Christian and until God heals me of this I will just go on living with it and getting through. You should not be embarrassed -- the ones who have a problem with it should be embarrassed-- after all this is the 21 st Century and we are not living in the dark ages. People with seizures are not crazy and according to my doctor are actually above normal in intelligence. -- Not sure if that really applies but it makes you feel good!  Hey Kiddo-- this is not such a bad boat anyway-- lot of good people in the same situation and it is not that bad! We do have our limitations and yes seizure disorders are not fun or a peice of cake but I tell you --- it is an adventure.  So go ahead tell people and if they have a problem remember it is their problem-- they just may need a little education.
