Okay so I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 10 went on medication then at age 17 was taken off medication because I was seizure free for 2 years. I am now 24 and been seizure free from petite mal seizures for 7 years but 2 days ago I had a grande mal seizure which I have never had before. Could this be my epilepsy returning. What could of caused it? I don't drink, smoke or do drugs

There are several things that can cause a seizure and those might not be epilepsy. However you were diagnosed with epilepsy while you were a teen. You went without a seizure for 2 years before being taken off your meds. Which is great. It looks like you have been seizure free for 9 years after you were originally diagnosed. That said if you had a good relationship with your old neurologist by all means contact him. He may have information on other kinds of seizures you might have had but never did. I have not had a convulsive seizure since 1970 and went seizure free for 3+ years. I was going to ask my neurologist about taking me off meds but I had a focal seizure which didn't go into a convulsion. All of the other focal seizures I had generally went into convulsions. Basically it could have been a one time issue but then you could have been prone to have them and never had one. I hope this helps and you stay seizure free. Joe
