Given that my epileptic condition prevents me from earning an income, I do believe that I'm not the only one facing such a difficult situation. Why not share and help each other at that "important" level?I would like to think that I am not the only one in such a difficult situation. Sharing could only help.

My son has epilepsy and it has been very costly for me and I have look into other ways to help with the expenses. We live in a small town and I travel to Detroit, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids for test after test. I have talked with the FIA to see if they could help with travel or drug expenses. They did help with the medical expenses. I have applied for SSI and on the first time they denied him and stated that as long as I am giving my son his medication I am helping to keep him from having seizures. I have re-applied and waiting on that but this time I am going to fight their decision if denied again. I am doing alot more to educate myself to help win this extra funds. I even found that at the Health Dept. they offer a special insurance that will also help with the expenses no matter what other insurance you have and it can be for the rest of your life. I don't know if this information will help you or not. I hope it helps you some if not alot. Right now that's all I know, fight for SSI and it will be time consuming so have patience and hopefully that will help with your financial situation.

Here is a resource that might be helpful to you it's called Children's Special Health Care Services (CSHCS), there family phone line number is 800-359-3722. I'm told that they also help not only children but adults too.
