Epilepsy

Tue, 10/30/2018 - 15:45
My names mariah and I’m 24 and I was diagnosed with Juvelille Myoclonic Epilepsy when I was about 15. (JME) I have the absence seizures where I just stare off for 30 secs then snap out of it. And tonic clinic or the jerking movements. I’ve only had 3 grand mal seizures since I was diagnosed. I mostly have my seizures when I am sick with like the flu, stressed out, or when it’s my time of the month. Beginning of this year 2018 I was sick with the flu I had two seizures and one was at the hospital. I could not drive for five months and that sucked but I get it. I was puking a lot and I had those seizures because my medicine wasn’t staying in my body. I am not currently driving cuz I had a seizure back in sept and they did a EEG and it turns out that I’m having brief little seizures the absence ones. So they put me in Keppra for a couple weeks then I go back for another EEG to see if the keppra is stoping the absence seizures. I’ve had a seizure every year since I was diagnosed except 2017. I was seizure free 2017. I’ve been on lamictal since I was diagnosed and it’s worked pretty well for me. I’d like to talk more with someone about JME and if they have it as well.

I don't have JME, but I've also noticed that I seem to be worse during my period too. I thought I was imagining it, but I have done some research it seems like it's pretty common.
