Like a Clock

Ive been having my seizures for the past 3 years now. It is always the same sensation, length of time and recovery time. For the past year or so they have only been happening on Saturday or Sunday morning (12-4a.m.) I'm 23 and due to the seizures and not being able to drive I was forced to move back into my parents house. When this happens I'm usually walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Ill have the seizure, then walk to my parents room and tell them Ive had the seizure. My loving mom will walk me back to bed and make sure I'm back in the bed safe before she leaves me. Most of the time I don't remember any of this. When I wake up I have a strange felling, and thats a dead giveaway Ive had my weekly seizure. Does anyone else have seizures at predictable moments? They hit like a clock, once a week, on the weekend, in the wee hours of the morning. I'm going trough the last battery of test leading up to the right temporal lobectomy. Hopefully soon Ill be back behind the wheel and on my own again. Thank you and God bless. --Brandon

hey Brandon-

I know just what you mean- it happens to me all the time.  I will be fine for a couple weeks and then BOOM! I will have about 3 to 6 seizures a day. When I was first diagnosed I didn't know why but my stepfather of all people asked my mom <so as not to embarrass me> if it could have anything to do with my monthly cycle.  He nailed it right on the head. One week before I get my period every month the seizures come out of the blue like machine guns...  But they also come if I am extremely tired or stressed out about something.  So I have to always sleep 8 hours no more no less and not get riled up about anything.  Sometimes difficult to do... The only other thing with me - I don't know about others is the weight factor.  I know that I am overweight  <by too much> if I lose weight the seizures stop - put the weight on they come back tenfold...  SO - the clock is ticking all the time - its just waiting for the alarm to go off thats bothersome

Thanks for the reply JoAnne.  It's good to hear that someone else can somewhat predict the onset of their attacks.  I've heard that a women's menstrual cycle can have something to do with epilepsy but I haven't studied this.  Unfortunately or maybe not, I can't say the same for myself (being of Male gender).  My doctor has told me that my mind and body is more relaxed on the weekend, thus making me more susceptible to seizures.  You are absolutely right when you say that waiting for the attacks is the hardest part.  It's Sunday evening and still no seizure, it can worry me to death sitting and waiting for it to happen.  I wish you the best of luck with your fight against epilepsy. -- Brandon
