Hi.
Ive been taking Keppra for about 10 months now. It has helped alot but does'nt completly control my seizures.
Taking 4000 mg. daily now. My doctor told me they will be coming out with an extended version of Keppra in a slow release formula, which is now showing up on epilepsy's front page. She wanted me to try it in a few months. We started talking about generic drugs and she told me DO NOT take generics. I told her I thought all generics and completly the same just under a different name. She informed me that they are not the same dosage. The companies who make them are allowed 15 mg. either way. Up or down. So if your taking 500 mg. of the Brand name Keppra under a different company name they may only be 485 mg. or 515 mg. She said with epilepsy medicine it NEEDS to be exactly the same on every dosage. Every little mg. can make the differnce in controling the seizures. It would probably be ok for pain medicines and such but for seizures it is very bad. Anyway just thought I would pass that on from what I was told from my neuroligist who specializes in epilepsy and a degreed psychologist. Take Care.

I hadn't heard of a generic form of Keppra, but that is wonderful news if it is coming. It is so expensive, especially if you're a 22 year old college student. Thank you for posting this.
