Seizures or Fainting?

Thu, 10/19/2017 - 11:09
Hi everyone, I am a 19 year old female and I'm pretty new to all of this but here's what has been happening to me. About a month ago I fainted in my bathroom and my doctor said it was just vasovagal syncope, which i already knew i had. Then a week later I had near syncope but my friend who witnessed it said my body was shaking uncontrollably. I was completely conscious during this episode and remember shaking but not being able to do anything about it. This has happened about 5 more times since then. When the episodes happen i get very sweaty and clammy, my vision blacks out but i can still hear everything and i get a headache. These episodes typically last a few minutes. After the episodes i generally feel pretty exhausted and like my limbs and head weigh a million pounds. Recently my hands and feet have been tingling and my feet go numb. I also have been having problems with my memory and balance. My doctor suspected a heart problem but all of my bloodwork was normal, my ekg's are always normal and my halter monitor was normal. So i asked her about seizures since my mom and friends said thats what looked like was happening to me. My doctor ordered and eeg which i had yesterday and referred me to a neurologist who has yet to even call me and it has been 2 weeks now. I also believe that last night i had some type of seizure. I remember feeling like i was dreaming and like my entire body was shaking uncontrollably and i was screaming for help but the only noise coming out was a gurgle like sound. This "dream" or whatever it was took place where i was which makes me think it was not a dream. My mom says it was just a bad dream but i feel like it wasnt. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for me or has had something similar happen to them or a loved one.

Vasovagal syncope  occurs

Vasovagal syncope  occurs when you faint because your body overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress. syncope is different but th person does faint. The reason for that is the flow fo blood to the brain. Now convulsing generally does not happen with either one of these issues. Blood tests and EKG's are done to find out what the heart is doing. So if thigs in your heart are fine that is great but it can also rule out synscope. The EEG is a brain wave test of the epectrial impulses in your brain. Like the EKG shows the electrical out put from your heart.Being refered to a neurologist is what was needed. It does take time for the neurologists to read teh EEG with all the different types of things in them. Yes different things can cause abnormalities. Spikes, Waves also known as epileptiform or seizure activity. So give them time to read the EEG. Anything abnormal on it will be looked at and they will know where they came from. What has happened that you posted do sound like different types of seizures so relax and wait. While you do that research this site andlearn more about the different types of epilepsy and types of seizures.
