Living with Epilepsy - Then and Now.

Wed, 07/06/2005 - 18:14
Hello All.My name is Erik, and I am a 40 year old male, married to a wonderful lady. I have had Epilepsy all of my life, had seizures, and at one time felt sorry for myself.Yes, like all of us, I wished I was born "normal", in that I mean without Epilepsy or any other illness that there is.I have to say, that I am lucky that i have a seizure now and then (usally one every 3 or 4 months), and sometime I have what I call a "tremor" (When my arm shakes for 30 seconds or so).I use to be a hermit, not leaving my house, always working on my computer, or electronics. The far I would go out was to go fishing, I was always afraid what people might say if I had one in public.I never wanted to meet someone, thinking they would not understand what I have. When I meet my wife, that changed. I saw there where people out there that cared, and like me for who I really am.I am now out of my shell, living life like anyone else in the world. I dont want to seem mean, but I know there are people worst then I am. I had a friend in school that had one every day, I know. as a human being how that must have felt to him.I have only seen one seizure by someone else, that changed my thinking, I now live life one day at a time, like it was my last day.I would like to hear from others, I want to meet new people, maybe help them, as they may help me understand more.Thsnk you for reading, and hope to hear from all very soon. Erik

Hello Erik,

I have never seen anyone else have  a  seizure.   Just a few seconds of  a video  that my hubby shot of me.  He wanted the Neuro to see  how my  eyes  jump all over when I seize.

I am fairly new to the Epilepsy life.   I was just diagnosed with having seizures this last year.  We are still  arguing about whether or not it is Epilepsy.

I am sure you will make lots of friends on  here.

Take Care,

Dayna

Great  well you are  off to a great start already.  That is exactly why I am still here. To  learn what  I  can, help where  I am needed, and to talk to the friends that I have made.
