How Enlightening!

Tue, 02/08/2005 - 09:29

Hi, all! I went to the neurologist yesterday {first time in 15 years}. I had to wait forever, and I was soooo nervous. While I was waiting, I noticed that this wasn't the cleanest facility that I had been in. Anyway, the doctor finally came in, and she was very nice and took the time to talk with me. She asked me my history and why I was there, etc., etc. However, when I asked her if the TLE could be causing other things like depression, anxiety, inability to think clearly, memory problems, etc., she told me that there was absolutely no connection. She said that the only symptoms of the TLE would be the seizures. Again, she was very nice and took the time to listen and wasn't trying to write me off, but this is what she believes. How enlightening! I'm no doctor {and no flake}, but I know that this can't be true. ARGH! We have Kaiser, so I have to go where they send me. I may be able to get a second opinion...

We also talked about meds. I think that we agreed upon the fact that, since I have so few seizures now, I would rather not take meds due to the possible side effects. She did order an MRI and an EEG to be done. We'll see what comes up wth these. On a lighter note, I'm actually glad that I went. I feel a strange sort of relief, even though the whole thing was sort of frustrating.

                                                     Blessings,

                                                           Angie
