Chief Justice John Roberts v. Epilepsy

Tue, 07/31/2007 - 00:29
Help me out here folks, because I'm loosing my cool. Some PR flack where Justice Roberts is in the hospital tonight said that Roberts' sz 'was not a matter of concern'. Anybody here agree with that? The man suffers a generalised tonic-clonic drop sz, and it's not a serious concern? This strikes me as smoke and mirrors to hide that Roberts is really one of us. But this is what has me frothing at the mouth (sorry). If he does have E, I seriously doubt it effects his performance as Chief Justice. Surely if he's on meds, it's a first line AED with few side effects. The Kicker... If he is one of our own, is his E not being disclosed because the uninformed public will think he's not competent for the job? That reflects on all of us and the reaction we get when we tell someone we have E. Am I just being touchy here, and I'm totally off base? Or does anyone agree with me? Thanks all. Keep smilin', marko

You know, I thought almost the same thing. They said this is his second seizure in like a number of years. yet they are saying it is no big deal Then again, maybe this will raise some awareness for those who have someone we love who has E. make them realize that anything is possible. Mom to Lauren age 9,

When I read that it was no big deal I was outraged myself. Hopefully Mr. Roberts is truly Ok but I wish the media would be more truthful reporting stuff like this. Maybe as a result of this, Americans will learn more about E.

Will Politics Play a Roll I've noticed this as well. But what is interesting, or disturbing, is how the various news agencies are portraying it. Although they are all going with the "it's no big deal" attitude (which it might not be, not sure yet), on some it is a top story (CNN, MSN) and on others it is buried deep (Fox.com). I've also noticed that on the Top Story versions, there is much more Political jargon and affiliations mentioned. I'm just hoping that those who don't agree with the Chief Justice's politics don't use this to play on America's ignorance of our disorder. Let's just hope that it will raise awareness, and not perpetuate ignorance and fear.
