VNS therapy side effects

Fri, 05/30/2014 - 19:58

My son is severly autistic, non-verbal, age 19, and has had seizures since age 10.  Meds have not helped much.  Two months ago he had the vns surgery and seemed fine until 2 weeks ago.  Could the device be over stimulating?? him and causing him to not sleep well, be almost manic and out of control at times.  The strangest is that he is now refusing to leave the house and go for walks, get in any vehicle and go anywhere.  He wont go to school, doctor appointments or even mcdonalds (his favorite).

I have a VNS implant and it is very easy for it to over stimulate you. And in turn makes your anxiety go CRAZY! it mAde me feel unsafe and scared when that was happening. But when I got it turned down it went away and over all I am happy that it gives me auras that I never had before and I don't get hurt from falling all the sudden from a seizure.

Have you ever asked to or have you yourself ever turned your magnet off and see how your ear and hearing does? When your doctor puts his machine to your chest he gets a bunch of information like how often you use your magnet and if your wire is out of place or has moved at all.
