neurofeedback

Sat, 01/22/2011 - 11:35

I am looking for information from anyone who has tried neurofeedback for absence seizures.  Our son has had uncontrolled absence seizures since he was 5-6.  He has failed 6 meds, either allergic reations, worsening of seizures or they just didn't work.  Felbatol was our the last one we tried and we are now on a very slow wean, with a combination of Frisium(clobazam).  We just started Neurofeedback, 2x per week. He has had 4 sessions.  I understand it will take months before we realize any benefit, but I am wondering if anyone who used this therepy, either person or for their child, can tell me if they experienced any negative side effects?  After our last session our Son was very tired and the next day, he had many seizures, was extremely tired and seemed in a "fog" most of the day.  We of course have shared this infor with the Dr. but I am just trying to get info. from other patients and trying to stay hopeful.  We are loosing faith in him ever having control of this awful disease.  @ 16 he just wants to have a more normal life.  Poor kid can't stay up past 9 and function the next day.

Any info will be appreciated.
